			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If the option of living on a desert island for a month, or smoking a fake cigarette for the rest of your days do not appeal to you, and you don&#8217;t want to be a stop-start quitter, you do have other options.  And although going cold-turkey is one, you want to give yourself as much of a chance of success as possible.  After all its your health and life that&#8217;s at stake.  </p>
<p>So how do you actually quit?  You&#8217;re craving that next cigarette, but you don&#8217;t want to smoke it.  Well great then, that means maybe its time for a little NLP.</p>
<p>NLP stop-smoking programs focus on both the physical and mental aspects of quitting smoking.  NLP stands for Neurolinguistic Psychology and its all about empowering brain messages, and patterns.  It was created by Bandler and Grinder (a linguist), in the 1970s as a way of overcoming learned limitations.  </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re new to NLP, then start by asking yourself these three questions as they relate to your desire to stop smoking:</p>
<p>What do you want to accomplish?   What has stopped you until now to quit smoking?  </p>
<p>You have to have a personal desire to quit, and one that&#8217;s internal.  For example, you might say: I want to breathe properly again, now that&#8217;s a great personal motivator.  More powerful than, lets say: I want my partner to stop nagging me about the smell of cigarette smoke on my clothes.  The greatest predictor of your success in quitting smoking is self-motivation.  It makes something like a 20% difference.  </p>
<p>We take actions to fulfill a need, whether its a conscious or a sub-conscious one.  Maybe you smoke to relax.  Find a healthy alternative that can fulfill the same need.  Substitute the feeling of taking a deep breath for the cigarette.  Both may have the same effect of relaxing you.  One kills, the other doesn&#8217;t.</p>
<p>What kind of resources do you already have which can help you achieve that? One of your greatest resources is you, and your brain.  Your brain cannot distinguish between what you see and what you imagine (visualize).  Visualize yourself smoke-free, breathing deeply, filling your lungs with fresh air on the top of a mountain you&#8217;ve just hiked because now you can hike.  Add sound, color, a motto to this image, whatever it takes to be a power image for you.  Imagine someone takes a photo of you looking and feeling that way, and now you that you have in your pocket.  When you want to reach for your cigarettes, reach for the photo instead.  This is about rehearsing your decision to not smoke anymore.</p>
<p>Whats my first step?</p>
<p>Start small.  Go for the smallest step forward if need be.  And then give up a little more every day.  Do the ritual, but don&#8217;t smoke the cigarette.  For example, maybe day one, each time you smoke, you smoke half a cigarette instead of the either one.  And when you put it out, you pull out the mental image of you on the top of a mountain, breathing in crisp mountain-air and feeling great.  Maybe by day five, you&#8217;re down to 5 puffs.  Then, you take out your lighter and light up but don&#8217;t inhale.  You&#8217;re essentially reversing your smoking ritual.  Concentrate the effort on getting through the day and let tomorrow take care of itself.</p>

<p>The revolutionary device known as the electronic cigarette is becoming more popular by the day and is generating serious discussion throughout the world. The problem with those discussion is that not everybody taking part are well enough informed as the product is so new. In fact even the relevant authorities such as the Food and Drug Administration are confused as to what to do regarding these devices &#8221; not fully sure whether to accept them or ban them. </p>
<p>Views differ as to whether this product is a device designed to help persons quit smoking or just another smoking alternative. From my research, I have found evidence to suggest that electronic cigarettes can function as both because they have features that can help quitters and continuing smokers. </p>
<p>So can the limited information available tell us whether the electronic cigarette is a less harmful alternative for smoking a regular cigarette? The answer lies in its features. The regular cigarette is famous for its tobacco, tobacco smoke and nicotine content, which when combined are very potent and can cause a host of harmful diseases (such as throat and lung cancer) which can, and often do, lead to death. </p>
<p>No tobacco can be found in the electronic cigarette, a fact which obviously reduces total health risk considerably. In turn, it emits no tobacco smoke, so those dangers are also avoided. </p>
<p>The exclusion of tobacco and tobacco smoke from the electronic cigarette also means that there will be no second-hand smoke and therefore none of its dangers. Second-hand smoke is actually proven to be more dangerous to those exposed to it than first-hand smoke itself. The reason for this is that the particles in second-hand smoke are considerably smaller and so create more damage as they have the ability to reach deeper in the lungs. </p>
<p>As a replacement for of smoke, the electronic cigarette emanates a vapour when puff is taken which does not smell bad, does not stain teeth and is not proven to be generally unsafe at all. The relative safety is not a sure thing though, as some scientists are of the opinion that experiments might find a long-term damage prospective in the vapour. Nicotine can be found in the electronic cigarette though. Even so, it affords the user the option of choosing the level of nicotine </p>
<p>By and large, it appears as though the electronic cigarette might be a first-rate product. There is no undeniable substantiation over many of its producers assertions but the accessible evidence suggests that it might arguably be a good buy.</p>

<p>Smoking is bad for your health; you can get cancer, and die from it. You&#8217;ve heard it all before, but still you can&#8217;t seem to quit smoking cigarettes. Maybe you just haven&#8217;t tried hard enough, or often enough to succeed.</p>
<p>One of the most popular choices to quit smoking cigarettes is the method of going to the doctor and getting medicine. Though you have side effects that you will need to work through in this way. Not only that but you will still need to deal with those darn cravings when they happen too.</p>
<p>Another way to quit smoking cigarettes is to try hypnosis or even acupuncture. This way you will not have those side effects from any prescription medicines that may have been given to you by the doctor. There are different studies that do show some positive results from this way of quitting.</p>
<p>Cravings for that nicotine can seem unbearable at times, and that&#8217;s why others will look into hypnosis as an option to help them quit smoking cigarettes. Studies show mixed results on this and it&#8217;s not really known if it helps any more than the other choices you have to stop smoking.</p>
<p>Those people who&#8217;ve quit smoking cigarettes in the past will say that cravings are huge at times. Especially when you smell someone else smoking, that&#8217;s why you may need to seek out a group to join to help with quitting.</p>
<p>In closing, though it is a hard habit to stop, you can succeed. Many will succeed in quitting smoking each day of the year. Finding the right foods to stop your cravings that will not add on weight is also important. People who have smoked for years can quit, so can you, think positive and keep trying.</p>

<p>Patches: You can find plenty of different patches on the market. They all claim to help you quit smoking easily and safely. They use patches that you stick onto your arm usually. These patches contain small traces of nicotine and perhaps some other ingredients. These are all aimed to help you quit by giving you moderated amounts and lowering them over time. </p>
<p>This product is sworn by by many people. What they don&#8217;t realize is that in a year&#8217;s time they will probably be back smoking again. This is because, unlike hypnosis, the patches do not find and cure the actual problem. </p>
<p>Gum: The gum that you get for quitting smoking is also nicotine based and works in the same way as the patches. They release smaller amounts of nicotine into the system safer than cigarettes. The only thing with gum is that many people get addicted to that instead. This is usually because smokers use cigarettes as a stress management aide. They still have something to chew on, so will keep using gum. </p>

<p>Self hypnosis is usually thought of as a person listening to an audio tape, mp3, or other mass-produced media, intended to induce a willingness to absorb suggestions centered around a specific topic such as weight loss, stop smoking, etc. Unfortunately, this kind of hypnosis is generally prepared by someone who has never met the person being hypnotized.</p>
<p>For example, if you burn easily sunbathing, that last thing you want to hear about is a long walk on a sunny beach. In this case, the &#8220;self&#8221; in self hypnosis simply means that you listen to it all by yourself. How do you incorporate self improvement to this kind of self hypnosis? To be able to go about self improvement, there are certain aspects in you that should be addressed. Using self hypnosis, the negative aspects that are serving as hindrances to improvement must be removed. </p>
<p>To be really effective self hypnosis should necessarily be designed and created by the very person who will ultimately use and benefit from it. Unlike the mass-produced hypnosis, this self hypnosis is made for the exact purpose the person desires, including the exact words and phrases that mean the most to that particular person. </p>
<p>The true self hypnosis is thus crafted by the person to suit his or her own needs. The benefits derived could only be accomplished with such a personal, one-of-a-kind hypnosis. In this case, the &#8220;self&#8221; in self hypnosis really means what it says.</p>
<p>Below is a brief view of the self hypnotic process. Though lots of variations of this method have been used, these are the basic steps you have to go through in order to hypnotize yourself to accomplish your self improvement goals.</p>
<p>1. Position your goals from the most important goal to the less important. If possible, your goals should be measurable. </p>
<p>2. For each goal, you should formulate fitting suggestions which means you have to convert your goals into specific instructions to your subconscious mind on how to achieve each goal you want to reach. </p>
<p>3. Use the first minutes of your self hypnosis session to get as relaxed as you possibly can. Try to forget about all your worries and problems.</p>
<p>4. Start your hypnotic initiation phase by saying and repeating out loud the hypnotic words you have chosen, thinking of these words or listening to a hypnotic tape or CD customized for your hypnotic and goal fulfillment needs. </p>
<p>Before you start up your self hypnotic exercises you should make a time schedule for it. Do your hypnotic sessions every day, five minutes a day is enough. Repeat your suggestions as often as possible during the day. Measure your progress towards reaching your goals. Are you closer to your goal now than you were before you started? Ask yourself. </p>
<p>If you answer negative to these questions, you have to rethink and reorganize your train of thoughts. Within just hours of stopping smoking, your body initiates a process of healing that may last for the following years and can in due course improve your health in general.</p>
<p>Of course, once you decide to quit smoking, you do not essentially view the consequent health benefits as concrete concepts, but rather as elusive notions that may occur at some point in your distant future. The solution is to get acquainted with what is known as &#8220;quit smoking timeline&#8221;, which may help you determine and monitor your own healing process. You might be amazed to find out that some of these benefits can occur just a few hours after quitting smoking.</p>
<p><b>First Couple of Hours</b></p>
<p>Within the first 2 hours after quitting, your blood pressure and heart rate will almost immediately decrease to healthy, normal levels. Additionally, your the circulation of your body remarkably gets better, and you may experience a warming up in your feet &amp; hands.</p>
<p><b>Eight Hours</b></p>

<p><b>2 to 3 Weeks</b></p>

<p>In the long run, the succeeding are some factors to remember: After 5 or 15 years, you have the same risk for contractinga stroke as non-smokers. After ten years, you enjoy a decreased risk factor for going through lung cancer or other cancers (for example, mouth, pancreas, throat, bladder, kidneys, esophagus, among many others) that regularly afflict smokers. In fifteen (15) years, your risk factor for developing a heart illness (coronary disease or heart attack) is reduced to the level of a non-smoker.</p>
