<p>Prior to beginning a stop smoking program, quitters should first find out why they would like to stop smoking in the first place. This assists them by keeping their objective in mind. Then, a timeframe should be set by which they want to have stopped smoking completely. A helpful method is if a smoker usually smokes more during the week, a weekend is a good time to start stop smoking programs, and vice versa.</p>
<p>A person trying to quit smoking normally faces many challenges. One of the things to consider is what to do if a spouse continues to smoke while you are trying to quit. You must think about how to manage situations when you would normally smoke. Don&#8217;t be hesitant to tell your family and friends about your plans to quit smoking so that they can encourage your efforts.</p>
<p>When someone makes the decision to quit smoking it would be beneficial for them to check out nicotine medication. Such medication gives smokers a way to gradually ease off nicotine that is much less concentrated than that found in cigarettes. Smoking cessation aids can be quite effective. In fact, nicotine medication is recommended by the American Lung Association as a treatment for kicking the habit. Usually, these types of medication require a prescription by a doctor. But people who want to quit smoking should consider all their options and do their research about nicotine gums and patches.</p>
<p>Once an individual stops smoking, they will usually go through a nicotine withdrawal period. During this time, they may face difficulties such as headaches, cravings, anxiety, and nervousness. This is a normal part of the process and most stop smoking programs help the quitter ease though this period.</p>
<p>Problems associated with nicotine withdrawal can be helped with the aide of nicotine medication or nicotine gum. But a smoker who wants to quit smoking should completely avoid smoking, not even just one cigarette, while undergoing stop smoking programs. Friends and family can also be a huge source of support.</p>
<p>Many people who try to quit smoking make two or three attempts and if they are not successful tend to get discouraged. Though quitting smoking is not easy and may require more effort on your part, it doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that if you can&#8217;t quit initially you can&#8217;t quit at all. One needs to be dedicated and focused towards quitting smoking. Trying different stop smoking programs each time is a good idea. For example, if you tried quitting the first time using nicotine gum, then the second time you should try the patch. Being dedicated to quitting and having a real desire to quit is the most important factor, though.</p>
<p>There are many stop smoking programs that can make it easier for you to quit smoking. The best programs are usually the ones involving nicotine gum, patches, or medication. But of course the most important thing to remember when trying to quit smoking is that you need to be dedicated toward your ultimate goal.</p>

<p>There are many reasons that you should quit smoking. While everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health it can be difficult to quit smoking. Most smokers don&#8217;t know how to go about quitting. You can try many things to help you try to stop smoking such as using a nicotine patch, chewing nicotine gum, taking prescription medication or going under hypnosis. It is apparent that different things may work well for some people while other things work better for other people. </p>
<p>It is important to know that smoking is an addiction. There are both physical and psychological addiction symptoms involved with smoking. The physical part of smoking is nicotine. The physical addiction to nicotine takes about three days to get over once you stop smoking. After that the rest of the problem is psychological. The best way to stop smoking is to find the secret that will help you quit. Many people smoke as a way to relieve stress. </p>
<p>Smoking is most often attached to feelings of stress and anxiety. Ask any smoker and they will tell you that they usually smoke more when they are stressed out. Whenever stress or anxiety levels go up people who smoke reach for another cigarette. There is justification in smoking to relieve stress because for most smokers it seems to work. People need to learn new and better ways to relieve stress and relax rather than smoking. </p>
<p>The reason that many smokers fail when they try to quit is that they suddenly learn just how difficult it is. There is always an expectation that it is hard to quit smoking because that is what people say. Sometimes people try to quit a few times before they can actually stop smoking for good. Those who are successful are the ones who are prepared to fill the empty areas that are left when smoking if no longer an option. </p>
<p>To stop smoking it is helpful to first learn why you smoked to begin with. Once you know that you can start to help yourself find things to do that will take the place of smoking. All smokers realize that smoking is not good for your health but you may just not be able to stop on your own. Smoking is a habit and as with any habit it needs to be &#8220;unlearned&#8221;. Habits form as quickly as three weeks and the longer you continue to smoke the more you are reinforcing the habit. </p>
<p>All habits including smoking are hard to break because there is a very real psychological need to continue. Smokers use cigarettes to help them through rough times in their lives. This may help them rationalize their continued smoking. When you are ready to quit smoking you need the help of someone who understands what it takes to quit and can provide you with all the tools you need to get you through.</p>

<p>Quitting smoking is a task which smokers fear, however they know by quitting they will be healthier. Not only does smoking have an adverse effect on the body it can also cause many serious health problems such as heart disease, cancer and COPD. Both the smoker and their doctors should put tobacco secession at the top of their lists. Not only do doctors fear for their patients&#8217; health, they fear what will happen should their patient need surgery.</p>
<p> Certain protocols are in place to help insure the patient&#8217;s safety during surgery. Some of the more common protocols are no food or water twelve hours before and take a shower to minimize the risk of infection. For smokers there is another requirement, no smoking at least two weeks before and two weeks after. Some surgeons may even ask the patient for as long as four weeks before and after the surgery.</p>
<p> According to Anesthesiologyinfo.com, smoking does two things to the cardiovascular system which causes many problems for the anesthesiologist and surgeon. By smoking the patient is increasing the carbon monoxide which attaches to the hemoglobin in the blood which will decrease oxygen in the blood. Nicotine will increase the amount of oxygen the body needs putting a stress on the heart and body. The heart will not function properly because of the increased carbon monoxide and blood will not get where it needs to.</p>
<p> Second, the lungs are more likely to collapse because smoke causes the small airways in the lungs to not function properly as well. Smoking makes more mucus which can leak into the lungs, making the lungs unable to clear it. Smokers are more prone to bronchospasms and lung infections which can be fatal. Smoking has been linked to dozens of side effects from heart attacks to poor wound healing in surgery patients, by as many as six times more.</p>
<p> Doctors want their patients to lead a healthier life and have a successful surgery, so generally surgeons and physicians ask their patients to quit for two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. Many surgeons have asked for as many as four weeks before and after to insure their patients are fit for surgery. However, ideally physicians and surgeons want their patients to make smoking secession a top priority.</p>
<p> Quitting has become much easier over the years, mostly because of the availability of treatments. Some of the more common are over the counter, such as the nicotine patch and gum. Others choose to try homeopathic treatments such as herbal remedies, acupuncture and hypnosis. Prescription drugs such as Zyban and Wellbutrin have gained popularity as well. Often treatments are combined so the patient can be as successful as possible.</p>
<p> The most important thing is to discuss with your physician to discuss your options and find out which plan will suit you best. There are many choices and options available to help you quit, the time is now. Do not wait until you need major surgery before trying to quit, quit before you get there.</p>

<p>Now is the only time that is important. Many people get caught up in their day to day lives and focus on the future which can bring about anxiety or stress. Stress can cause many problems such as concentration issues, lack of good judgment, negativity and lack of productivity. The best way to combat these feelings of stress is through relaxation. Relaxation plays in a key roll in leading a healthy happy life. Relaxation takes as little as ten minutes a day and can be as simple as breathing exercises, or as challenging as a kick boxing class, the choice is yours.</p>
<p> Some people think relaxation needs to be something extreme such as a seven year sabbatical or a three month vacation, this is not the case. The key is to find something you enjoy and teach your mind new tricks! Relaxation can happen anywhere, at home, in the office or while driving.</p>
<p> Finding the best method can be the hardest challenge on your road to relaxation. First you need to decide what sorts of things you enjoy. It could be a range of things such as surfing the web, reading, meditating or walking.</p>
<p> Watching TV, listening to music, surfing the web and reading all offer a break from regular day to day situations. They each create an alternative world that is entirely your own. Your mind visually escapes into a place that is different and exciting instead of dull, boring and always the same as so many of us think our lives are.</p>
<p> Learning to control your breathing and meditation can be a little more complicated since you must learn these techniques in order for them to work properly. Meditation can help you learn to reflect on situations and to control your breathing to calm your mind. These techniques need to be mastered and exercised in order to achieve the maximum result. Once you have achieved your goal, you can relax at the drop of a hat and find inner control in as little as ten minutes.</p>
<p> Other people prefer to hit the gym to relax. Some like to run, walk or lift weights. Others might prefer a cycling, kick boxing or tai chi class. Running and walking burn off excessive built up energy, however not everyone wants to run a marathon. For them there are other sorts of classes which sole purpose is relaxation such as yoga. Many people choose to skip the classes and gym all together and simply walk their dogs in the park.</p>
<p> Practice makes perfect and remember patience is a virtue. Listen to your body and practice until your body knows what relaxation feels like. Make note of what did not work for your mind and body, remember it for the future. Be patient, if you don&#8217;t get it right away, it will happen eventually so keep up the good work. But make sure to keep yourself motivated by reminding yourself you will be healthier and happier in the end and think how nice it is to do something you like!</p>
<p> Teaching your body something new is always a challenge, however once you get the hang of it, it is like riding a bike, your body won&#8217;t forget how. It is important to find an activity which you enjoy and know you will stick with, but you must make a conscious effort to remind and train your body to relax while performing this task. It may take time, but in the end the rewards will be fantastic for your mind, body and lifestyle.</p>

<p>Stress can be defined many different ways. The most common definition is, stress is the body&#8217;s response to an outside situation in one&#8217;s life. Stress effects one&#8217;s environment, life and others around them in many ways. Sometimes these situations get the better of us and we have trouble dealing with the feelings of stress. You may become irritable, hostile, angry or overly sensitive just to name a few. Sometimes our physical body deals with the stress in an unhealthy way as well. You may have high blood pressure, become depressed, develop ulcers, or have a heart attack. It is important to learn what your stress triggers are and how to deal with both the triggers and the effects. Only by learning this will you be able to successfully manage your stress.</p>
<p>Triggers can be a variety of things. It could be something immediate such as the threat of physical danger, preparing for a date or a speech. These situations are instant and usually over quickly allowing your body to return to normal. The trigger could be something more serious and long term such as a divorce, financial problems, moving or a sick family member. These long term situations tend to have a more dangerous effect on the body and person.</p>
<p>Learning to deal with triggers is crucial to stress management. Hypnosis can assist you on your path to inner peace. It will help you to learn what your trigger is and it can change your body&#8217;s response to that trigger. <p>A quit smoking program using hypnosis should e fairly involved, and I&#8217;ll tell you why.  Smoking is a habit that generally gets involved in many parts of your life.  So it only makes sense that you need hypnosis to address all the different behaviors involved.  Hmm, maybe not an uplifting thought for this first paragraph, but consider this: good quit smoking programs are already made, ready for you to obtain and use.  The easier the better</p>
<p>You experience your smoking habit in unique ways.  You know where you struggle with decisions to smoke or not the most.  Your experience is unique and also common.  (Yes, it can be both things.)</p>
<p>A modern hypnosis program addresses your problem areas directly.  Using the knowledge of how they were formed in the first place.  With a goal of removing the craving, urge, desire, whatever you call it.  With the craving out of the way, you&#8217;re left with a simple decision to smoke or not.  There is no mental arguement.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s nice, but there&#8217;s more to be done.  Let&#8217;s use hypnosis to start new cravings, like for drinking water, exercise, and breathing fresh air.  Let&#8217;s create an urge for relaxing distractions.  Have things to do to fill-in the time you used to spend smoking.  How many cigarettes did you smoke per day?  How many minutes per cigarette?  It adds-up, doesn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>Stress that builds up might make your cravings stronger.  Hypnosis helps with stress directly and indirectly.</p>
<p>Increasing your confidence would be nice to, right?  A little hypnosis to build or re-build how you feel?  In particular, building the confidence and belief that you CAN quit smoking this time, and feel great while you do it.  (One of the ways we learn habits is repetition.  I&#8217;m fairly certain this is not your first try to quit smoking.  Did failing in previous attempts make a little doubt that it will work this time?  Better use hypnosis with that also.)</p>
<p>Might as well use some hypnosis to strengthen healthy eating habits too.  So you can rest easy that you&#8217;re not going to balloon while you stop smoking.  Simply knowing you&#8217;ve covered this angle too should make you feel relaxed.</p>
<p>With all of that help in your corner, this time, to quit smoking will be a walk in the park.  Which doesn&#8217;t sound so bad, does it?</p>

<p>In todays world it is not enough to take our health for granted.  We must all take responsibility for our well being.  We all know exercise, proper nutrition and enough sleep are great.  Although it is easier said than done.</p>
<p>Our busy schedules, fast food and just plain day-to-day life get in the way.  How many working moms drag themselves home after a long day at work and prefer to pick up dinner on the way?  Nothing against working moms.  You have to give today&#8217;s woman a lot of credit.  Working, raising a family and running a household is not easy.  Dads too are doing their share more today than in any other time in history.</p>
<p>Exercise is a must to good health.  When you are tired you don&#8217;t feel like exercising.  Even though exercise gives you energy!  Sound like a vicious circle.  You&#8217;re right.  Begin exercising with a short walk and increase the distance a little every day.  Walking is one of the best ways to exercise.
