<p>Another major benefit of quitting smoking is a decreased risk of heart attacks. There are several effects of smoking and increased the risk of dying of a heart attack, but fortunately they all begin to decrease immediately after you stop smoking and decrease even more overtime.</p>

There are some side effects and some people have trouble sleeping, and also the skin may become irritated due to the patch. A remedy like this one mirrors the theory of behaviorism, which states that people are capable of being trained to react in certain ways. <p>When quitting smoking, it is an important to drink plenty of water. Smokers also can try drinking a mixture of celery and carrot juice which will minimize the craving for nicotine. <p>Anyone who smokes feels the drain that it has on their wallets and their energy, even their health suffers. Medical problems often plague smokers. For instance, lung cancer is closely related to smoking. Other potential impacts of smoking may include discolored teeth, added wrinkles, foul smelling breath, and not having any energy to do anything.What most smokers do not know is it is possible to stop smoking using natural means.</p>
<p>Smoking is not only a bad habit it&#8217;s a serious addiction as well. Nerve pathways in the brain are repeatedly stimulated by the nicotine intake, thereby reinforcing the powerful addiction to tobacco. These pathways have become ingrained and it is difficult to suddenly switch to a new one. Quitting smoking is about blocking these old nerve pathways and using new pathways in their place. Being strong-willed is the only way to really achieve this. If you wholeheartedly want to quit, you can reverse years of unhealthy habits, which in turn creates new nerve pathways in the brain.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not easy to stop smoking. No one said it would. Bad habits are bad enough but addictions are difficult to quit. This is where a support group can help. For some people, this includes your friends and family. This can also include both ex-smokers and nonsmokers. For other people, a support group can also consist of professional help. In any case, having people on your side cheering you on can do you some good. This will help you keep going and finally lead you to quit smoking.</p>
<p>Those who have already quit smoking claim that it is best to quit cold turkey. Don&#8217;t try to decrease the amount of cigarettes you have per day because this will make it too difficult to quit. Instead, try to stop smoking completey all at once. The cravings might make you uncomfortable for a while, but you&#8217;ll get over them faster than if you were to stop gradually</p>
<p>If you choose to stop smoking naturally the first thing you should do is get rid of any cigarette packs you may having laying around and, obviously, not buy any more. It is also a good idea to steer clear of any environment that triggers your urge to smoke. In order to get through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly can help.</p>
<p>The cravings and associated symptoms caused by withdrawal from nicotine are hard to tolerate. When these cravings get strong, you can walk around outside or have a chat with a friend over the phone until the cravings subside. You can also try things like reading a book or watching a movie. Some people enjoy meditating or praying to help calm the cravings while trying to stop smoking naturally. Other people prefer to take deep breaths or redirect their focus with different activities. Some people chew gum to keep their mouths occupied. Whatever you choose, make sure to do that instead of smoking another cigarette.</p>
<p>With self-control and a good support system, it is quite possible to stop smoking naturally. It&#8217;s not entirely easy to accomplish, but once the first symptoms of withdrawal are over, you can quit smoking and become healthier.</p>

In some clinical studies, Zyban was twice as effective at helping stop smoking as the nicotine patch. In addition, you cannot become addicted to it, and it is easy to use. Although side effects may include insomnia and dry mouth, Zyban is worth trying.</p>
<p>Nicotine inhalers and nicotine gum are examples of other stop smoking aids. Nicotine gum assists people in their quest to quit by keeping their mouths busy and delivering small doses of nicotine to ward off intense cravings. Some people are hesitant to quit smoking because of the possibility of large weight gain. In such cases nicotine gum is the most useful option as helps ward off cravings without weight gain. Nicotine gum is chewed like other gums and may be used for about 12 weeks to wean off nicotine addiction.</p>
<p>Nicotine inhalers are stop smoking aids that allow smokers to take a nicotine dose whenever they feel it&#8217;s necessary. The inhaler imitates the nicotine effects of smoking, and helps make quitting smoking easier for those trying to stop smoking. Throat and mouth irritation are some of the side effects.</p>
<p>It is important to remember, however, that stop smoking aids can only work when individuals want them to work. That is, individuals must be fully dedicated to quitting smoking. This inner drive and motivation is the only way smokers will be able to quit smoking. Though stop smoking aids such as nicotine patches, nicotine pills, nicotine gum, and nicotine inhalers can help smokers quit, nothing can help them quit permanently except willpower.</p>

<p>Every year, the number of people who make the decision to quit smoking increases. Some choose to quit because smoking costs them too much money. Others quit due to concern over their health. Regardless of their initial motivation, many of these would be quitters soon realize that quitting smoking is not as easy as they thought. Smoking is an addiction, and like giving up any other addiction, quitting is a difficult task. Even popular methods like a medication or the patch may fail or become too expensive. A viable alternative treatment for the smoker trying hard to quit is acupuncture to stop smoking.</p>
<p>Acupuncture, an ancient remedy, is now used as a new, popular method to quit smoking. Though it does take time, acupuncture helps people quit smoking by helping them overcome their cravings and other withdrawal symptoms. By treating specific symptoms and consulting with individual patients, acupuncturists are able to help quitters bring balance to their bodies. Many acupuncturists perform a physical exam on their patients in order to better understand the situation and develop an appropriate plan of action.</p>
<p>Patients are treated according to their specific, individual symptoms. Most treatments last from fifteen minutes to half an hour and most patients see an acupuncturist once or twice a week. Smokers who choose to try to quit smoking with the help of an acupuncturist should note that the number and frequency of treatments vary among acupuncturists according to their diagnosis. Most acupuncturists will want to treat patients one or twice a week, for about 30 minutes, but again, this varies. Usually, there are four to six treatments in the first few weeks. As patients experience less and less symptoms, their treatments will decrease to monthly sessions.</p>
<p>A patient&#8217;s unique symptoms will determine the exact treatment that he or she gets. For those who are trying to quit smoking, however, certain spots on the body will usually be the focus for the acupuncturist. Many acupuncturists work with the body&#8217;s shen men point to relieve tension, the kidney to improve self-control, the master point zero to stimulate homeostasis, and also the lungs to alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms. <p>People trying to quit smoking are recommended to work out regularly and to eat healthy fruits, vegetable juices and broths to get rid of bodily toxins. Other good foods to eat are celery, carrots, oranges and other citrus, as well as plenty of leafy green vegetables. Foods to be avoided while quitting smoking are sugars, chocolate, coffee, and junk food.</p>
<p>Those who are trying to quit smoking need to exercise and perform breathing exercises regularly, as well as drink plenty of water. In order to quit smoking, they need a lot of support. It&#8217;s not easy to fight the cravings but anything that can distract you and take the focus away from the craving such as taking a long walk, or talking to a friend on the phone is recommended.</p>

As a result, many smokes decide to utilize nicotine medications in an effort to ease their quitting attempts. For example, a stop smoking patch is one available method for many smokers attempting to quit for good. A stop smoking patch allows smokers to fight withdrawal symptoms.</p>
<p>A stop smoking nicotine patch is used by many smokers as a temporary aid to help them stop smoking. This patch helps smokers control symptoms of withdrawal. For example, a nicotine patch can help smokers avoid the irritability, insomnia, fatigue, and headaches that often result from nicotine withdrawal. By using a nicotine patch, smokers can avoid these withdrawal symptoms and instead focus on what is more important. Smokers can instead overcome their ingrained behaviors which have led them to smoke as well as the psychological factors that make it difficult to stop smoking.</p>
<p>When an individual starts using nicotine patches, they must immediately stop smoking. Those people who choose to smoke and use nicotine patches at the same time are only doing themselves harm as they increase the amount of nicotine they take in. They could even overdose from nicotine and/or experience side effects. In order to use a nicotine patch safely, individuals must apply them every day to a hairless, clean spot on their upper body. They must not place the patch on a wet area. Suggested sites include the chest back, stomach or upper arm. Individuals can use the patch for about 16 to 24 hours, after which they should take off the used patch and replace it with a new patch. </p>
<p>It is necessary to use a different nicotine patch every day. Remembering to use a new patch is easier if it is part of a daily routine. Always talk to a physician before taking any medications like the stop smoking patch. Based on how severe your symptoms of withdrawal are, you may be able to use patches up to 12 weeks, but this decision must be made with your physician.</p>
<p>The stop smoking patch may cause a variety of side effects in some people. Some of the of the more common are: dry mouth, inflammation where the patch is attached, rashes, discomfort (burning or itching) around the patch, and sleep difficulties including unusual dreams.</p>
<p>Use of the stop smoking patch may result in adverse side effects including difficulty breathing, cold sweats, rashes or seizures. If any major side effects occur, the individual should contact a doctor immediately. These side effects could be a sign of dangerously high levels of nicotine in the system.</p>
<p>Be sure to tell your doctor if you&#8217;ve had any recent heart problems, such as irregular heartbeat, rapid heartbeat or heart disease. Other health problems you should inform your doctor of are diabetes, hypertension or stomach ulcers. Knowing these things can help your doctor decide if you will benefit from using nicotine patches. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use stop smoking patches.</p>

It does not, however, provide relief from the smoking habit. You must think about how to manage situations when you would normally smoke. Don&#8217;t be hesitant to tell your family and friends about your plans to quit smoking so that they can encourage your efforts.</p>
<p>When someone makes the decision to quit smoking it would be beneficial for them to check out nicotine medication. Such medication gives smokers a way to gradually ease off nicotine that is much less concentrated than that found in cigarettes. Smoking cessation aids can be quite effective. In fact, nicotine medication is recommended by the American Lung Association as a treatment for kicking the habit. Usually, these types of medication require a prescription by a doctor. But people who want to quit smoking should consider all their options and do their research about nicotine gums and patches.</p>
<p>Once an individual stops smoking, they will usually go through a nicotine withdrawal period. During this time, they may face difficulties such as headaches, cravings, anxiety, and nervousness. This is a normal part of the process and most stop smoking programs help the quitter ease though this period.</p>
<p>Problems associated with nicotine withdrawal can be helped with the aide of nicotine medication or nicotine gum. But a smoker who wants to quit smoking should completely avoid smoking, not even just one cigarette, while undergoing stop smoking programs. Friends and family can also be a huge source of support.</p>
<p>Many people who try to quit smoking make two or three attempts and if they are not successful tend to get discouraged. Though quitting smoking is not easy and may require more effort on your part, it doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that if you can&#8217;t quit initially you can&#8217;t quit at all.
