<p>We all know the dangers of smoking and most people want to stop but just can&#8217;t. They might find that even though they can get all kinds of diseases, they just can&#8217;t seem to quit. This is because it is very addictive, but here are a few ways that you can stop smoking if you want to get healthy again.</p>
<p>The first thing you can do to stop smoking is to search for something like a nicotine patch or nicotine gum. Now, while this is preventing you from lighting up, it also contains nicotine. It is in small doses however and safer than inhaling the cigarette fumes which can reach the brain in about 6 to 8 seconds. The nicotine in a patch or gum will not affect the brain as much or as fast. This is because it is absorbed into the blood stream through your skin or saliva. </p>
<p>If you are serious about not smoking anymore, then you will want to get your hands on these. They do come in a series or a course, and they come in either gum or patches. You will have to start will phase one, but if you are a serious smoker, you may want to look into starting a bit further down the line. </p>
<p>One of the harshest methods that people do use is to go cold turkey. Just stop suddenly without any help. This is easier for those people who just smoke as a social thing and for those where smoking is just a habit and not an actual addiction. You might get some withdrawal symptoms with using this method, but the trick is to not give up. </p>
<p>One method that people use to stop smoking and that can actually cure your addiction is to go to a hypnotherapist. This professional will use hypnosis to help you stop smoking. They will also program something in your brain that tells you smoking is bad and that you don&#8217;t like it. This means that even if you are tempted, you will never smoke again. </p>
<p>Once you find the best way for you to quit smoking you should stick to it. Don&#8217;t give up because otherwise it will be even harder and you will have to start the process right from the beginning again. Choosing to stop smoking will make you feel so much more energetic and you can prevent cancers, emphysema and all kinds of other illnesses.</p>
<p>The best way to start a stop smoking program is to get someone to do it with you. You can help a family member or friend and this will make it easier for you too.</p>

<p>Things are really heating up with the latest news that The FDA is calling electronic cigarettes dangerous to your health. This undeserved blow comes shortly after the FDA slapped Chantix and Zyban, two drugs already approved by them as Nicotine Replacement Therapies, with a warning label indicating their high risk of suicidal thoughts, aggression, depression, and hostility.</p>
<p>Quickly rising to the surface of the controversy is the concern that perhaps the FDA doesn&#8217;t have the general public&#8217;s health in mind as their primary focus. It seems that the FDA approved drugs are getting more negative attention as electronic cigarettes continue to gain ground as the safer smoking solution of choice. The largest portion of this fight is over why e-cigs are being targeted as a health risk instead of rightfully being compared to the existing health risks of tobacco cigarettes, or even other NRTs.</p>
<p>Many manufacturers of the e-cigarette point to a study conducted by Health New Zealand. Their study did not test for Diethylene Glycol which was one of the chemicals the FDA has drawn attention to in their findings. This isn&#8217;t outside the realm of reason since it is not on any of the manufacturers ingredients lists, nor is it a known carcinogen found in traditional cigarettes. According to the MSDS for Diethylene Glycol, it is known to cause lesions and other forms of damage to the kidneys and liver.</p>
<p>Reading further along the MSDS, I found the first aid section. In it, it advises you what to do in case of inhalation of the substance &#8211; remove yourself to fresh air, away from the source. Seeking information about the carcinogenic properties of Diethylene Glycol brought me to the toxicological information. The MSDS stated no carcinogenic suspicion now or in the future. For a human to ingest a toxic amount of DG, they would be hammering down 855.925g before being fatal. That is assuming the dose required to kill half the lab rats at 12.565g/kg could be extended to humans.</p>
<p>Also in the FDA&#8217;s statement concerning their findings on e-cig risks, they explained DG as the primary ingredient in anti-freeze. The EPA paints a different picture, however. They state, &#8220;Some manufacturers promote a propylene glycol based solution (vs. ethylene glycol) which is less toxic.&#8221;</p>
<p>Either way, no matter which ingredient is active in the suspension, the stigma of antifreeze being dangerous actually comes from the fact that it is often disposed of improperly. This is only important because during service and use of the product, heavy metals contaminate the fluid (particularly dangerous is the lead contained in the metals). Yes, straight antifreeze is toxic, but its active ingredient is Ethylene Glycol and the main hazard stems from the heavy metals absorbed in used, recycled, or improperly discarded antifreeze.</p>
<p>What about Nitrosamines? Nitrosamines are carcinogens. Tobacco specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) are found in the liquid used by Ruyan in their cartridges. According to the Health New Zealand report, the amount increases with the amount of nicotine, and the average is 3.928 Ng (or parts per billion [ppb]). </p>
<p>The specific listing is as follows: Nitrosamines In Cartridges: 0mg &#8221; 0.260 Ng (ppb), 6mg &#8221; 3.068 Ng, 11mg &#8221; 4.200 Ng, 16mg &#8221; 8.183Ng. As indicated above, the cartridge with the highest nicotine volume contained the highest level of TSNAs. What is significant about this is that by comparison, the FDA approved NRT Nicorette Gum contains 8Ng (the same as that of the highest strength nicotine cartridge). Putting this number further in comparison, tobacco cigarettes contain approximately 1,230ppb TSNAs before burning, and moist snuff pulls in between 1,000 and 2,400ppb.</p>
<p>The FDA remained silent on equally yoking their findings, which begs the question of their integrity in their studies. Are they seeking to protect the public health, or prevent an unapproved NRT from taking shares from the pharmeceutics and Big Tobacco which they have just gained control over?</p>

<p>Smoking is a tricky subject to get to grips with, for smokers and non smokers alike. Fortunately, we have a few tools to help us understand the state of smoking and none are quite as powerful as looking into the history of the phenomena. Smoking has had a dramatic impact on culture, economies and individuals, so it can be easy to get bogged down with the big issues &#8211; forgetting the important lessons we can learn from thousands of years of tobacco use and the evolution of smoking norms. With that in mind, lets go back through history and uncover the surprising, sometimes funny history of smoking.</p>
<p>The story of tobacco and smoking begins many thousands of years ago in pre-historic America. Scientists predict that tobacco began growing in the form we recognize back in 6000BC, though this is educated guess work at best. It is widely thought that the recreational and religious use of the plant followed shortly after, with burning and chewing of the leaves commonplace in Mayan culture. This use spread to other Native American civilizations, and the entire continent was enjoying tobacco and smoking in short order.</p>
<p>Unremarkably, the use of tobacco and smoking continued in the Americas without interruption for approximately 3000 years until the continent was discovered by eastern explorers from Europe &#8211; specifically Spain and Great Britain. Rodriguez De Jerez, an explorer like Columbus, became the first non Native American smoker to try smoking. In fact, he enjoyed it so much that he bought a quantity back to Spain, only to be arrested when he tried smoking it in public. Thus begins the controversial element in tobaccos long history.</p>
<p>Irrespective or Rodriguez&#8217;s luck, tobacco and smoking spread rapidly throughout the European elite once they began to understand (and try) it. Sir John Hawkings and Sir Frances Drake were the most likely candidates to bring the first large shipments of tobacco back to europe, though commercial shipping did not begin for some years. In fact it was Sir Walter Raleigh who popularised the drug in Great Britain, which soon saw royalty and the aristocracy lighting up as a point of style.</p>
<p>Tobacco and smokings first major hiccup came in the form of a King James I decree, which banned smoking in Londons pubs. At the time James declared that tobacco was &#8220;an invention of Satan,&#8221; a law which soon went up in smoke when he nationalized the production of smoking products and even reduced taxes to producers and importers. Tobacco and smoking had reached the &#8216;civilized&#8217; word, and would grow in popularity and availability over the next thousand years to become Europe and Americas drug of choice.</p>
<p>Tobacco and smoking remained a relatively expensive pass time in Europe, primarily limited by the slow pace and expense of importing such bulky products. This meant that uptake with the lower and middle classes remained slim, that is until cigarettes were invented. Researchers generally agree that Egyptian soldiers are the most likely inventors (and prefectures) of the paper rolled cigarette having, as they did by this point, a relatively good home grown supply of tobacco. Once again tobacco use went from strength to strength as production and importing costs plummeted and cultural demand grew. Finally, in 1950 what may one day be recognized as the death toll for tobacco was sounded when the British Medical Journal published a paper drawing links between lung cancer and smoking. US Surgeon General Luther Terry would later announce an unequivocal link between the drug and cancer.</p>
<p>Recent years have been a dramatic battle between regulators, producers, and smokers. The arguments come thick and fast and, although it&#8217;s now fully accepted by all parties that smoking can cause serious health issues, how to deal with the &#8216;epidemic&#8217; of smoking related deaths and future regulation of tobacco based products are in question. The UK has banned smoking in public places once again, but shows no signs of a total ban. US health officials are fighting hard for clearer labelling explaining the consequences of smoking to potential buyers, and other countries peruse the issue in their own way.</p>

<p>Smoking is a bad habit. But does anyone really know how bad? The number of smokers is still so high that it is doubtful, especially that the amount of smokers around us makes it extremely hard to break that habit. That&#8217;s why many smokers lull themselves into a false security, repeating the stories about healthy 90-year old smokers. The truth however, is quite different.</p>
<p>Everyone probably knows that smoking damages one&#8217;s health, appearance, and image. It is dangerous to your family and workmates (if you smoke at work), inhaling smoke is not a pleasant feeling, and your clothes and you start to stink to heavens after only a few weeks of smoking. However, this is only the beginning of what happens to smokers. The whole truth is known only to few people &#8211; not because it&#8217;s secret, but because it is so hard to believe in all bad things we do to ourselves by smoking.</p>
<p>The Terrible Truth</p>
<p>The facts can&#8217;t be contested. Every year there are over four hundred thousand casualties of smoking a year in the United States alone. This is almost a hundred times more than died at the WTC attack and ten times more than the US has lost during the 6-year war with terrorism. The moment a smoker lights his or her cigarette, he or she inhales almost five thousand dangerous chemicals. 69 of those compounds are known to be carcinogenic. The risk is practical &#8211; over three quarters of lung cancer fatalities in the US is the direct effect of smoking.</p>
<p>Respiratory problems are only a peak of an iceberg. Smoking is also known for increasing the chance of a stroke and heart diseases even if you&#8217;re only a second-hand smoker. It gets worse if one has been exposed to the cigarette smoke when one was a child. Then, there is a good chance of developing severe asthma and allergies as well as nose, throat and ear infections. While these conditions do not normally kill, they may change a happy life into a nightmare &#8211; only because parents wanted to take a puff from time to time.</p>
<p>We may say of course, that people are free to do whatever they want, even if they harm themselves. Of course that true &#8211; we live in a free country anyway &#8211; but the problem is that one of the main victims of our bad habits are our children. OR, to tell the truth, parents and children alike. First of all, cigarette smoke may cause infertility both in males and females. Then, a woman who breaths in cigarette smoke during pregnancy sentence their children to suffer from the respiratory problems for the rest of their life. In more extreme cases, smoking during pregnancy may also cause premature infant deaths and early deliveries.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s still not all&#8230;</p>
<p>The problem with cigarettes is not only the death &#8211; we will all eventually die. The problem is that the smoke will ruin our physical appearance long before that.</p>
<p>The teeth are the first victim of smoking. As the cigarette smoke tar sticks to the teeth, it changes their color into an ugly yellowish shade of brown. At the same time cigarette smoke prevents blood from nourishing the gums, slowly but inevitably making them weak. This may effect in swelling and mouth inflammation, but most importantly it makes gums to grow weaker and weaker with every passing year, making it impossible for them to act as the teeth support.</p>
<p>Lack of proper circulation in gums causes severe risk of teeth loss. This is not theoretical! A teenage smoker loses between four and six teeth before he reaches his mid-thirties. Poor blood circulation in the mouth often results also in other problems, most notably complications after dental operations. For example, smokers are more likely to suffer of a dry-pocket.</p>
<p>Compared to teeth loss and dry-socket problems other &#8220;niceties&#8221; of smoking look trivial. Nevertheless, they are also infuriating as well as 100% sure to show up. The changes include losing color by your skin, thinning of hair and its breaking off, and the terrible stink surrounding you, your clothes and your stuff. Even though you may not notice it at first &#8211; the change takes months and it&#8217;s not easy to spot a difference building up during so long time &#8211; other people will see it for sure. So, if you notice that people start distance from you during parties or try not to sit next to you, it is probably either due to the odor they smell or to your weary and unattractive look. Either way, do not blame them &#8211; you have done it to yourself.</p>
<p>The time is running. With every cigarette you smoke, you cause irrevocably damage to your health and (reversible) negative change in your appearance. <p>Even though we have been lectured on bad effects of smoking for over forty years, the sad truth has yet reached the ears of all smokers. Even worse, as thousands of people take up smoking every year, many of them even before they turn 21, this addiction is far from being cured.</p>
<p>Why are people smoking? Te problem is that no one really knows, even the smokers themselves. Cigarettes devastate one&#8217;s image and good look, they cause terribly bad breath and they are quite expensive. What is worse, they also affect the health of everyone around you, especially children. To make things even worse, the initial effects of nicotine intake &#8211; the feeling of relaxation &#8211; does not last long and soon disappear completely when body accommodates for the nicotine and ceases to react on this drug.</p>
<p>The Terrible Truth</p>
<p>The statistics are staggering. With over 400,000 smoking-related deaths in the US every year, smoking proves to be far more dangerous to US citizens than any war. The US Army has lost only a fraction of this number during the whole WWII! The Japanese and German armies tried for five years (and failed) to cause the damage Americans are now doing to themselves every year! With almost 9 out of 10 cases of respiratory illness caused directly by smoking cigarettes, it is hard to believe that smoking is still not banned.</p>
<p>Smoking however, does much more than just cause lung cancer. It affects also the heart making it more probable to have a stroke, and increasing chances for developing allergies, respiratory problems such as asthma and other chronic diseases. This may happen both to smokers themselves, and to those who only inhale the smoke, for example children of smoking parents.</p>
<p>Another problem is the health of children. If a woman smokes during pregnancy, or if she spends a lot of time around smokers, the child will probably develop heart problems and smaller lungs. To tell the truth, this is not even a chance, but a certainty. Those children who apparently do not suffer from such problems had a potential of being extremely healthy sportsmen. They lost that chance only because their mothers inhaled cigarette smoke.</p>
<p>There is even more than that&#8230;</p>
<p>Most smokers however will claim that all those risks of death are just a chance, and they are ready to take it for the cigarette&#8217;s sake. The problem is that some bad thing happen to every smoker. You may live for a long time even if you&#8217;re a chain-smoker. However, you will look like a death warmed up for the better part of your life &#8211; and this can&#8217;t be helped. It&#8217;s not the statistics, it is the real life.</p>
<p>First of all, smoking affects the color of your teeth, staining them yellow or brown. This makes dental cleaning every year a must. However, the gum problems that develop soon after are not so easily disposed of. Cigarette smoke prevents gums from receiving all necessary nutrients, making them weaker and eventually resulting in inadequate periodontal support for your teeth.</p>
<p>The teeth problems are what should really count to smokers. The chance of cancer or respiratory diseases may not seem real enough (though it is 100% real, too). On the other hand, losing teeth due to smoking is not theoretical. It will happen to every smoker, even though they may not notice the connection. If you start smoking at the age of 19, you will probably have five teeth less by the age of 36. To make things worse, cigarettes are also responsible for most after-dental surgery complications, slowing down the healing rate and making your mouth an ideal place for infections to settle in. This may not be obvious if you are generally in a good physical condition, but when the inside of the mouth is already under great strain after, say, teeth removal, the effects may be immediate.</p>
<p>Finally, the negative effects of smoking are not only about your health. Smoking can also affect your look and your wardrobe. If you compare photos before you started smoking with how you look like now, you&#8217;ll surely notice that your skin has lost its color and become dull, often with yellowish or greyish touch. Your hair problems are also nothing special &#8211; every smoker has less hair which is thinner and less nourished than the non-smoker. But the story does not end here. Cigarette smoke can also damage your clothes. It&#8217;s not only about the smell, it is also about its indirect ability to damage the clothes. As the smoke blends into the fabric, one needs wash and dry clean them regularly, even if one hasn&#8217;t worn this exact piece of clothing yet. Either you clean your clothes regularly and turn them into washed rags, or you decide to let them stink. Either way, do not blame the manufacturer &#8211; China cheap workforce is not responsible for your bad habits.</p>

<p>Find the best way to quit smoking quick and easy is with this formula. Cigarettes are the number one leading cause of lung cancer, are you ready to quit? I was quitting smoking for about a 5 year period. Then, I had enough and was blessed to come across self hypnosis. Since I had smoked for so many years, I had the mental tapes running of being a smoker. Eventually, the cravings began to get less intense. I developed a burning desire to be healthy and to be able to breathe deeply.</p>
<p>If that is not enough reason to quit smoking, then consider this &#8211; when you smoke, you cause irreparable damage to the health of everyone around you. Do you really want that innocent child near you to suffer because of your addiction? These are cold hard facts. Each time smoke enters the lungs, the toxins in it kill off small sacs called alveoli, causing a disease called emphysema. You cannot grow alveoli, so the destruction is permanent. So you start living a sedentary life, giving rise to obesity and cholesterol problems. Your smoking has given you a heart attack, resulting in a sudden and painful death.</p>
